Lavalove cacao is harvested on the Pacific coast of Guatemala for it’s meditational and medicinal properties. Grown in the foothills of the volcanoes of Atitlan and Toliman, it is hand peeled by indigenous families for quality and authenticity.

The aroma of this cacao is soft in the mouth, with floral notes and powerful earthy flavours in the end. It holds a very high healing vibration.

Izaias Sajvin Mendoza is the founder of Lavalove Cacao and was born on Lake Atitlan, his grandfather was a Mayan Shaman, and he was trained by Keith Wilson from the age of 14.  Today Izaias is a Cacao and Fire Shaman healer, along with his wife Izabel who is also an established Shamaness. We found out last month that the Keith’s Cacao company was no longer allowing us to sell cacao blocks on our website, as we have been doing since 2013. It is such a shame that the company is being led now solely commercially, and no longer from the heart. This is not what we experienced back in 2013 when we met Keith and Barbara in the UK when they conducted two weekend ceremonies at our retreat centre, and then again in 2015 and 2016 when we travelled to see them on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.

It is with sadness that we part way with the brand as we simply no longer align with the direction the company is now taking, but integrity is central to our spiritual journey and it has been a very easy decision to connect with Lavalove Cacao. Izaias is a cacao and Fire Shaman who was born on Lake Atitlan, whose grandfather was a Mayan Shaman, was trained by Keith Wilson himself, and whom we met whilst in Guatemala on Keith and Barbara’s ‘porch’. In the early days it was extremely difficult to get cacao from the lake to us in the UK. Izaias and Barbara liased with Dom, and it was all a bit of a drama, especially when the Guatemalan post office system collapsed!, but the connection to Izaias was born all those years ago.

Now 10 years later Izaias has dedicated his life to Shamanism and is ‘the real deal’. We feel aligned with his energy and intention, with integrity oozing from him. Sometimes it’s hard to let go of something that has been in your life for a long time, and taken an integral place. But when you sit in meditation and drop down from the head and into the heart, that’s where you’ll always find your answers. Sometimes they don’t make sense to the head, but through meditation we learn to listen to the heart; honour the wisdom that is within, and act bravely on the voice of truth.

The connection to Keith is infinite; he used to say that he regularly astral travelled to Inner Guidance Retreat Centre and meditated with us in our practice room, and I still regularly connect with him in meditation and all I ever feel is love and acceptance. I feel his energy bright and strong, with and without cacao, during his life and also now in death. He taught us to live and make decisions from the heart and this is one of those choices that from the outside may look difficult to make, but was very very easy because it came from integrity.

It was with great excitement that Dom and I tried Lavalove cacao for the first time. It tastes the same fundamentally, but with something ‘extra’; a floral flavour that Keith’s doesn’t have. After my first cup I taught yoga, the following day had my second cup and taught meditation; the cacao gave me exactly the same rocket boost as Keith’s and I enjoyed the same expansion, inspiration, and connection to infinite possibilities. After those first two cups there really was no going back!

Over the years, as a fiercely loyal Taurean, I have sometimes struggled to let go and move on; this is one of my lifelong patterns that I continue to work through. We have been loyal to Keith’s Cacao since 2013, never for a second being swayed by the new brands that have cropped up since. Sometimes the universe has a funny way of kicking our butts and forcing us to course redirect, and it is our work with surrender that has made what once would have been a difficult decision, easy.

The irony is not lost on us. In 2015 as we left Lake Atitlan after spending much time with K&B, Keith gave me a memory stick with various recordings of teachings for me to study. One of which, the work of Bentinho Massaro, resonated deeply and he in turn introduced me to Michael Singer and ‘The Surrender Experiment’. Since reading this book in 2018 everything suddenly made total sense, life fell into place, and the searching stopped. Now my life and my work is based upon surrender, acceptance, and receiving; no longing pushing myself into or onto the world, instead living in love and trust.

I see it as the infinity symbol; up until I read that book I was pushing forwards into the infinity circle (& world) with my needs and wants, controlling every outcome with what I perceived should happen. Now that I have ‘let go’ I’ve been released, I’ve dropped back, no longer needing anything to be any certain way. I trust that all is as its supposed to be and welcome and receive every moment with the same and equal grace.

Where I was once ‘taking’ from the field, I now give, in quiet trusting surrender. And OMG what a relief it is! No more need for external validation, no more need for anything because I feel full whole and complete. My Blissful Community is based upon this teaching, and we have fun exploring life in a surrendered way.
